The Actual Problems and Media World in Contemporary Czech Theatre

The theme of my speech touches so-called „glocal“ subject of the conference and it should be an attempt to define how the „new media“ and actual social problems (internet, blog, chat, skype, long distance relationships, work migration or consumer behaviour tec.) reach the contemporary playwriting and theatre in the Czech republic.

I would like to show the main characteristics of that on the emblematic play Hypermarket (2004) by Viliam Klimáček and on several Czech stagings of that play. Hopefully it will be possible to show more general principles through this particular work and prove it by other examples from other contemporary stagings that have dealt with the modern media and actual problems of the society.
