TÁP Theatre has been present at various alternative spaces and places of entertainment since 1996, declaring war on the rigid, rule-bound types of conventional theatre.  The very essence of „Bad theatre”—for the accomplishment of which their performances make an attempt-- is to oppose actual trends and experiment with form-breaking theatrical means.  One of its most important endeavours is to exempt the actors from the anxiety of „being good on stage” and this is achieved mainly by liberated, improvised acting which at the same time deepens the craftsmanship of professional actors and it enriches their artistic means of expression.
There are a dozen actors, stage directors, theatre directors, curators who all have their own stories to tell.  The stories circulate and break off until we are unsure whose they have been originally.  The personal mingles with the collective, the real with the false.  But you don’t have to be cautious because it is all a deception anyway.
„They don’t ridicule others. They (as virtuosos) make themselves ridiculous. They accept the embarrassment over their own earnestness and self-importance. They show us how much personal tackle is required by bad theatre. That undertaking the role of the untalented and the unsuitable is very deeply rooted. They jest in a philosophical way. They are unrespectful on principle. They are decent, skilled anarchists.”—Molnár Gál Péter, theatre critic
