The new premiere of Hólyagcirkusz Company is based on Thomas Bernhard’s play, Immanuel Kant.  The play takes a position which brilliantly establishes a need for clear-sightedness and it portrays with deep irony the blind philosopher’s—as an explorer’s--  intellectual aggression against his environment while sailing to America in hope for recovery.
Hólyagcirkusz Company was founded in 1997 by independent artists with an educational background in classical music, theatre and, partly, the fine arts.  The company has developed a unique rehearsal technique the main component of which is the elimination of the role of the director from the rehearsal process.  Each of their scripts is based on chosen musical and literary material and is written with a dramaturgy characteristic only to the given performance.   Thus the material of neither of their premieres can be alienated from the actors, that is, their plays can be performed only in the specific language of the company.   Their uniqueness makes the Hólyagcirkusz Company an outstanding group among the alternative companies, having been awarded several times in
Their performances are a mixture of the chamber opera, the circus, the musical drama and a visual theatre made up of strange musical instruments. Their name, Hólyagcirkusz (Bladder Circus), comes from their first and most successful performance.
Premiere: November 19th 2009, 7.30 PM, Merlin Theatre, Chamber
